Dressed Up Cashmere

image

Happy happy Monday! I apologize for being slightly behind on the blog this past week… I have been sick with a terrible sinus infection, of course during one of my busiest weekends! Although, it’s OK because Sunday I treated myself to staying in bed all day :).

When I feel myself getting sick, I actually try to deny it. I believe that when the mind thinks the body is getting sick, the brain will then act upon it in acceptance. I think of the brain and mind as two separate entities; the brain is what controls the body, and the mind is what controls thoughts and beliefs.

💡

Although the sinus infection has won this time, there is still the opportunity to help naturally speed up your body to fight back! I do this by continuing to fill my mind with positive affirmations. I believe that if the mind is positive then the brain will follow! We all know how hard it is to stay happy while having the shivers and your head in a fog, so I thought I would share a few sayings that helped keep my mind happy in times of sickness 🙂

Kickin’ It With Phillip Lim

image

Known for his effortlessly chic and youthful elegance, a seamless blend of sophistication and street-wear sensibility is the creations of Phillip Lim. Laid back refinement with moments of romance was his secret into the world of fashion. I couldn’t be more thrilled to wear one of his beautiful creations for the first time.

This “Runway Juno High-Vamp” leather sandal made its way under my Christmas tree this year and you can only imagine how excited I was for this newest addition to my wardrobe.

With a 4 1/2” wedge-like resin heel and a 1” platform, these shoes could not be more comfortable. Style and fashion is all about confidence and let’s be real, no one looks good stumbling around because they can’t walk in their heels!

Dress them up or dress them down! Whether I am feeling chic and sophisticated or street-style and edgy, I am able to incorporate these shoes into my wardrobe to express myself. Style is knowing who you are and what you want to say. I love that I now have a fabulous black heel that can help me do just that!

“I’m about me. I don’t know quite what that is. The clothes are definitely a result of my personality. It’s an eccentric soul but at the same time it’s subtle and shy. It’s always about pushing this youthful elegance, which is a contradiction in itself, and I guess that’s why it’s difficult to explain. Because everything is a contradiction” – Phillip Lim

Holiday Hardware

image

Take your holiday hardware to the next level with these beautiful stone earrings by BCBG Max Azria.

These earrings are not too heavy and shine perfectly for the many holiday parties that are to come. Style them with a simple outfit or that LBD and let these stones be the statement of the party.

To create a contrast to the rest of my rather simple look, I threw on MAC Cosmetics “Film Noir” lipstick and kept the rest of my makeup very minimal.

White Out

image

I went on a small shopping spree at Zara the other day. Two of the items purchased was this white turtleneck sweater with pockets and side zippers, as well as these beige leather trousers. The white and beige collaborated perfectly to create a winter white palette. My Furla precisely matched my look, along with my tan and black Marc Jacobs Booties.

These booties are one of my favorites! I love the deep slit + tan around the ankle; elongation at its finest!

Throw on a dark coat for a deep contrast and you are all set!

A Favorite Winter Bag

image

I know I always talk about how one should always shop for those timeless pieces that can be worn over and over, and this is the perfect example of one of my favorite timeless bags by Eileen Fisher.

image

This bag by Eileen Fisher is about 7 years old and continues to be one of my favorites. Dark grey + light grey + black drenched my ensemble with an airy light grey/pink scarf. I love the beautiful dark suede and leather combo on this bag; it’s texture winterized my overall look.

Bags are my favorite way to accessorize my rather simple wardrobe. The same goes for jewelry and shoes; splurge on those timeless pieces and that way as your closet evolves, you will always have those stable accessories to complete any look! Whether its through what you wear or how you accessorize, be heard and express yourself by all means.

Cape Couture

image

Absolutely love this wine colored cape by Eileen Fisher. The material is thin but warm for those chilly days. I paired mine up with my favorite skort by BCBG Max Azria and a simple black top underneath. On those colder days, the material is thin enough to throw a coat over while still achieving the same great look!

Getting Cozy

…with my absolute favorite BCBG Max Azria Zipper Scarf Snood

Wear it like a regular snood or draped down over your shoulders for extra warmth from the neck down! Zipper adds versatility and style. Definitely one of my favorite purchases from BCBG!

This scarf is especially handy when I wear all black because of its thick texture and detailing. Staying stylish in “Chi-Beria’!
