Happy Monday and a very happy first week of summer to all DePaul students, woohoo! Thankfully I finished finals a bit early this year and was able to take a mini vacation back home to Cincinnati, but boy was it HOT. Hot summer days like this call for some serious urges to just walk around in a swim suit all day. Although black isn’t the most appropriate color to wear in 90 degree weather, I just could not resist this midi dress.
This dress was actually my mother’s back in the 80’s (if only clothes today had that good of quality)! To maximize the comfort of this dress, my mom and I sewed on some straps to minimize the constant fixation of the dress — that’s the last thing you need in the heat!
As much as I absolutely love the lose boxy midi-dress look, I personally like to show off my waist and decided to add a shiny thin black belt. To modernize my look a little more, I threw on a favorite leather handbag and my new black wooden sandals.
The bond I have with my black wardrobe is inseparable, even in the hottest of climates. If you stick to your natural fabrics, such as cotton, rayon and linen, you won’t have to worry about attracting too much sweaty heat.
