This past week I experienced New York City for the first time, and not only was it my first time to the city, but my first time attending New York Fashion Week. I can’t even get into how overwhelmingly amazing the experience was! Allison and I saw so many beautiful presentations and the fashion shows were all spectacular. You can catch my front row live stream recap of the KUR Collection presented by AMCONYC on Periscope. We arrived to the city late last Friday evening, but 8pm is when New York starts really waking up. It truly is the city that never sleeps. Experiencing Times Square was a phenomenon in itself; the brights lights and the hoards of people all looking up at the sights around them instead of at their phones show the live energy that the city possesses. The energy is a constant in New York. I felt revived walking down 5th Avenue with my heels clicking on the pavement, I knew this was exactly where I needed to be. I felt my purpose being in the city during Fashion Week, and I was a beginning to see the possible future reality of living here. So many people from all around the world come to New York to follow their dreams or seek something intangible, something only Manhattan can provide.
What better way to kick off all this excitement than by staying at the luxurious Marmara Park Avenue. We were greeted by one of the most beautiful entry ways I have ever seen, all handmade and so intricately designed. In addition to the detailed furnishings, the overall aesthetic and design screamed minimal. Right when you walk into the hotel you’re greeted by the most refreshing white design of the lobby interior. It was the perfect refuge from the cold, busy city outside. Our beautiful room had all the amenities needed to make the Marmara feel like the perfect home away from home, and was the perfect escape during the craziness of fashion week. Let’s not forget the view; waking up to this every morning just fueled us with so much energy and positivity every day.
The spa is the place to unwind after a busy day of photoshoots in the crisp cold New York air. Specifically, the Turkish Hammam is definitely one of the best steam rooms I’ve experienced. In the evening, we enjoyed some fancy Valentine’s Day champagne at the bar, and their cocktails are some of the best in town!
The hotel is only 4 months in the making, but I am sure in no time it will be the most popular hotel on Park Avenue. The trip was absolutely everything I needed and more! Staying at the Marmara was the cherry on top of a wonderful vacation that I cannot stop talking or thinking about. I gained something from our trip, but not your typical souvenir. I came back to Chicago with a different mindset, more determination and more excitement for Simply Jules than ever before.
